17th Meeting Revelation Chapter 20
Chapter 20 opens with an angel binding up Satan in the Abyss, where he will spend the next 1,000 years. This sets up the millenniual period of Jesus reign here on earth. This was quite an interesting discussion we had concerning the millennium. We have tried not to discuss different schools of thought on End Times until after we look at what the Bible says. I introduced three new schools that believe that Jesus will come pre-mill, mid-mill, and post mill. Most of class never heard about this, so I told them we would look at it later. We had a discussion concerning the first resurrection, and what that entails. You know that when Jesus told the parable of the rich man and Lazarus, they were in Hades or (Scheol). On the cross Jesus told the thief that "Today you will be with Me in paradise". Hades and paradise are not the same place. When Jesus returns the dead who believed in God would rise first, and the unbelieving dead will still be asleep. Now this group of dead are both believing Old and New Testament people and will rise. They will receive their resurrected body at this time. The believers who are still alive at this point will also receive their resurrected bodies at this time also, but after the believing dead receive theirs. This is what the first Epistle of Thessalonians talks about. When this happens we will meet Jesus in the Air, while He is on His way to the Mount of Olives. Zechariah chapter 14, will shed more light on this.
Verse 7 talks about Gog and Magog, but only after Satan is released, for this to happen the 1,000 year of Jesus reign is over. This is after the battle of Armeggeddon as mentioned in last post.
Look carefully at who destroys this large army, it is God.
